James Margiotta

SVP, GROWTH, CVS ACCOUNTABLE CARE

Mr. Margiotta is an accomplished growth leader in the American healthcare business and has served in executive leadership roles within each of CVS Health’s main operating segments.  For 33 years, James has used his orchestration leadership style and diverse experience to understand partner commitments and align talent and CVS Health capabilities to achieve those commitments.    

Because of his exceptional performance in diverse situations, demonstrated leadership, and growth results, James has been entrusted over the years with roles focused on building and scaling newly created or emerging businesses.  Currently, James leads growth for CVS Accountable Care, a critical growth pillar within CVS Health’s newly created Healthcare Delivery Segment.  In this role, James works closely with provider partners to co-create solutions that optimize performance in Value Based Care.  He is also responsible for executing a multi-payor strategy to grow Medicare Advantage within the CVS ACO.  James also leads growth of CVS Health’s retail primary care and virtual assets.  

James previously led Return Ready, CVS Health’s COVID-19 fully configurable return to work testing and vaccine solution.  In this highly relevant, timely and visible role, James provided comprehensive leadership to a highly matrixed team and helped hundreds of US-based businesses and organizations bring their employees safely back to work.  

Previously, after the historic 2018 merger of CVS Health and Aetna, James was named to the post-merger integration leadership team. The team’s mission has been to help realize CVS Health’s vision to transform healthcare in America.  James was also named the leader for the Pharmacy Business Unit that serves the Aetna Health Plan segment.  James is also a member of the Aetna Operating Committee. Eight years before the merger, James was named the leader for the Aetna client relationship in 2010 with responsibility for the P&L, strategic planning, client relationship management, operations management, and contract compliance.  

James began his career at CVS Health in 1995 as a Strategic Account Executive. In 1997, he was promoted to Area Vice President.  In 2006, he was promoted to Senior Vice President where he was responsible for a team of experienced professionals serving employers, government, and coalition clients.  Prior to joining CVS Health, James was an Employee Benefit Representative with Aetna Health Plans, responsible for designing and marketing managed care products and services to employers. James earned his BA degree in Marketing from Texas A&M University in 1990.

Consistently delivering outstanding client service and performance has always been the focus for James and CVS Health.  His achievements have been recognized with the CVS Health CEO Award, two Area Vice President of the Year Awards, eight President’s Club Awards, the Strategic Account Executive Rookie of the Year Award, and a FedEx Quest for Quality Spotlight Award.
