Stanley D. Crittenden, MD, FASN 

CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER, EVERGREEN NEPHROLOGY

Stanley D. Crittenden, MD, FASN is a Nephrologist and physician executive leader and serves at the Chief Medical Officer of Evergreen Nephrology. Dr. Crittenden is passionate about chronic disease management, health equity, value based care, and health systems improvement, working to improve the quality outcomes and cost of care for vulnerable patients with chronic disease. He is very excited to be building a next generation kidney care company. He has successful leadership experience at two of the largest managed care organizations in the country, Anthem and Humana. At Anthem’s Diversified Business Group, CareMore and Aspire Health, he was national medical director for Medicare Advantage ESRD C-SNP plans and led initiatives around kidney disease care and served as enterprise wide nephrology subject matter expert. He worked as a corporate medical director in Humana’s Healthcare Services Division, served as the Chairman of the Humana Clinical Practice Guidelines Committee and received the Humana Excellence and Leadership (HEAL) Award by the Office of the Chief Medical Officer during his tenure at Humana. Prior to that, Dr. Crittenden was a practicing physician and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine and Boston Medical Center (the largest safety net hospital in New England). As a physician leader with deep experience in both provider side and payer organizations, Dr. Crittenden is adept in using clinical and claims data to design and implement population health programs to improve clinical and financial outcomes. Dr. Crittenden graduated with a BA in political science from Tulane, and continued to earn his MD from Tulane. He completed residency in Internal Medicine at University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine, and fellowship in Nephrology, Transplantation, and Hypertension at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Cornell Medical College where he was chief nephrology fellow. He maintains board certifications in internal medicine and nephrology in addition to being a certified hypertension specialist. Dr. Crittenden has multiple publications and presentations related to health disparities, kidney disease management, and value-based care. He is an active member of the American Society of Nephrology, where he serves on the national education committee for term 2020-2023.
