Clinician and member at home table

Many people are surprised to learn an In-Home Health Evaluation (IHE) from Signify Health is offered through their health insurance (also called health plan) at no extra cost. It is normal to wonder why there is no charge or if there is a catch.

The good news is there isn’t a catch. An IHE is 100% covered by many health plans. There is no additional cost because these visits can help individuals stay healthy, safe and supported at home. You have an opportunity to meet with a clinician who can answer your questions and help identify potential concerns. Also, your health plan has more assurance they are providing you an opportunity to receive the best possible care.

Here is what you need to know.

Zero out-of-pocket costs

Health plans offer IHEs because they want to help their members catch problems early. When health concerns are found sooner, care is often easier, more effective and costs less. This helps you stay healthier and can prevent bigger problems later. Your health plan covers the cost of the visit. You do not pay anything out of pocket if you are eligible to receive this service.

There is no bill, no fee and no reason to change to a different doctor or sign up for anything new. It is simply a service meant to support your well-being. $0 copay, $0 bills.

A visit designed to help you stay well

When you schedule an IHE, a licensed doctor, physician assistant or nurse practitioner (also called a clinician) comes to your home. It’s like a modern-day house call! The goal is simple: to give you extra support and help you understand your health. This visit does not replace your regular doctor or routine checkups. Instead, it gives you and your doctor more helpful information.

Here is what one person had to say about an IHE she had in December 2025:

“The visit was well-organized and efficient, focusing on my overall wellness rather than just problems. It felt like a valuable preventative health step, not just a box-ticking exercise. Overall, it was a very smooth and surprisingly positive experience.”

During the visit, the clinician may:

  • Review your medical history
  • Check your medicines
  • Look at your overall health
  • Talk with you about any concerns
  • Answer your questions
  • Screen for health risks like diabetes, heart diseases or memory changes
  • Look for fall risks or safety needs in your home
  • Provide health tips and resources

By including an IHE as part of your health journey, this visit can help you stay healthy with preventive health tips, help to notice a serious health concern early and help answer your health questions.

With an IHE, you get up to an hour of unrushed, one-on-one time to ask questions and talk about what matters to you. In this video, watch as Dr. Elizabeth Dugan talks about connecting with individuals in their homes during IHEs and the difference these visits can make.

A simple way to support your health

An IHE is a helpful, comfortable way to learn more about your health without leaving home. It offers peace of mind, extra support and a fresh set of eyes at no additional cost to you.
